Artist: Meindert Hobbema - Title: A Watermill - Medium: Fine Art Reproduction Giclee on Canvas - Image Size: Approximately 23 inches x 32 inches - Unframed on Unstretched Canvas - Biography: Hobbema is the only known pupil of Jacob van Ruisdael. Less dramatic than Ruisdael's compositions, Hobbema's are lighter and more cheerful. He produced over thirty views of watermills, all based on drawings done in the eastern part of Holland. He used the motif of this mill several times, with its downward rush of water highlighted by rays of sun. A. van der Hoop Bequest, 1854. On loan from the City of Amsterdam, 1885.
