KOUAKOU THE FIELD SIGNED ORIGINAL ACRYLIC. Artist: Ephrem Kouakou - Title: The Field - Medium: Original Acrylic on Canvas - Signature: This one-of-a-kind work is hand-signed by the artist at the bottom of the image - Image Size: Approximately 16 inches 16 inches - Framed: Unframed - Details: This work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity - Biography: Artist Ephrem Kouakou, a native of the Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), has exhibited his work in the United States, France, Belgium and other nations. His paintings are representative of his strong spiritual-cultural development in his village in West Africa. His images are whimsical and evocative, filled with strong symbolism and characterizations. They speak of religion, fertility, introspection of the soul, family, community, tradition and evolution. Ephrem tells of having walked from his village to Algiers because of his strong calling to be an artist. From Algiers he secured passage to France where he managed to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. His paintings are a blend of African and Western imagery in a rapturous dance of color and line that have as much to do with music as they do plastic arts. His bold folk art, inspired by his native culture, includes themes of fertility, brotherhood, the strength and the power of women, passion for life, and the understanding of sacrifice, reflection, and the inward journeys. His work transcends tradition and speaks of universal ideals, blending proud ancestry with modern culture. His canvases borrow from familiar archetypal images but the artist twists them into something contemporary and spiritual and very much his own iconography. Ephrem Kouakou's work can be found in galleries in New York City and Washington, DC, as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Smithsonian Museum of African Art. - Warranty: Item GUARANTEED to be as described
