One electronically tested 14KT yellow gold ladies cast tanzanite & diamond ring with a bright polish finish. Condition is new, good workmanship. The featured tanzanite is set within a bezel of diamonds accented by baguette diamonds, completed by a three millimeter wide band. Identified with markings of "14K". Containing: One prong set marquise mixed cut natural tanzanite, measuring 15.80 x 7.70 x 5.70mm, 5% bulge factor, approximate weight of 4.80ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, medium, very slightly grayish, violetish blue color, (GIA vB 5/3), cut is good. Transmitting light with no distortion, transparent. Graded in the setting. Tanzanite is a very rare gemstone that is only found in the country of Tanzania. Tanzanite was originally discovered in 1967. Tiffany & Company, named the stone "Tanzanite" after the country of origin. Tanzanite is found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. This region is inhabited by the Masai tribes-people. The mining area is located just south of the Kenya border near Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tanzanite occurs in colors of gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. The gem is interesting because of its exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color. Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning, and should not be cleaned using this method. Fourteen prong set round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring 2.10 - 2.00 x 1.23mm (depth est.) approximate total weight of 14 Stones = 0.49ct. Graded in the setting. Six prong set baguette cut diamonds, measuring from 3.20 x 1.20 x 0.84mm (depth est.) to 4.00 x 1.20 x 0.84mm (depth est.) approximate total weight of 6 Stones = 0.25ct. Graded in the setting.
