One pair electronically tested 14KT white gold ladies cast & assembled tanzanite and diamond dangle earrings with hinged, snap locking posts. Bright polish finish. Trademark is Orianne. Identified with markings of "14K". Condition is new, good workmanship. Containing: Two prong set oval mixed cut natural tanzanite, measuring 8.50 x 6.50 x 4.40mm, 15% bulge factor, approximate total weight of 3.91ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, dark, very slightly grayish, violetish blue color, (GIA vB 7/3), cut is good. Natural tanzanite, color enhanced due to cobalt coating. The presence of the coating prevents determining the stone's actual depth of color. Transmitting light with no distortion, transparent. Measurements & the color grade are an average for the pair. Grading in the setting. The cobalt coated Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning, and should not be cleaned using this method. Tanzanite is a very rare gemstone that is only found in the country of Tanzania. Originally discovered in 1967. Tiffany & Company, named the stone Tanzanite. It is found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. Tanzanite occurs in gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. The gem is interesting because of its exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color.
