Presented is an old silver and baleen sauce or small toddy ladle made during the 1740s-1800. The ladle has a classical, twisted baleen handle with an elegant silver cap at the end. The bowl is round with a flared lip. The silver parts are guaranteed to be at least .900 silver or coin purity silver. This was certainly made in England or the United States. Although some English examples were unmarked, this is quite unusual. The lack of any hallmarks indicates that this piece is likely American. This ladle is in good overall condition for its age. There is a small crease/scratch in the top of the ladle lip near where the handle is attached. There are no flaws, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. The inside silver ladle is stamped AMD as well as the cap on the whale bone/baleen twisted handle. The ladle measures 8 inches long.
