One electronically tested 14KT white gold ladies cast alexandrite and diamond ring with a bright polish finish. Condition is new, good workmanship. The featured alexandrite is set within multiple diamond bezels supported by diamond set three-way split shoulders, completed by a four millimeter wide band. Identified with markings of "K14". Containing: One prong set oval modified brilliant cut natural alexandrite, measuring 14.97 x 11.59 x 8.26mm, exact weight 11.61ct., type II Clarity is eye clean, medium dark, very slightly grayish, yellowish green color, (GIA yG 6/3) to medium dark, very slightly brownish, brown-yellow, (GIA BrY 6/3), cut is good. Transmitting light with no distortion, transparent. GIA Gemological Report attached. Graded loose prior to setting in the GIA Laboratory, Report #2151371374.Alexandrite was discovered in the 1830's near the Tokovaya River in the Ural Mountains of Siberian Russia. It later became the national gemstone of Russia. The name "alexandrite" became official in 1842.Alexandrite is a variety of chrysoberyl. It contains both beryllium and chromium. It is the chromium that accounts for the spectacular color change. The color change is the primary qualification for a chrysoberyl to be considered alexandrite. Alexandrite is strongly trichroic. Its color change results in a near-equal transmission of the blue-green and red portions of the spectrum, coupled with strong absorption in the yellow. Today Alexandrite is found in Brazil, India, Madagascar, Myanmar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
