Its color change results in a near-equal transmission of the blue-green and red portions of the spectrum, coupled with strong absorption in the yellow. Today Alexandrite is found in Brazil, India, Madagascar, Myanmar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
